| Publishes the award-winning Church & State magazine each month to keep you up to date regarding the latest church-state issues. From court cases to school board elections, Church & State is your most comprehensive resource for current trends in religious freedom. | A national organization with a grassroots presence, Americans United brings together individuals and congregations of varying religious beliefs (or no particular belief) to publicly guard the Constitutional guarantee of religious freedom.
Our primary goal is to educate the American public regarding the importance of religious liberty through the separation of church and state. Americans United also works to preserve public education by opposing efforts that would introduce sectarian worship practices into public schools or divert tax aid to religiously affiliated private schools. When you become a member of Americans United, you join with thousands of people throughout this country who view freedom of conscience as the founding principle upon which our democracy rests. Your single voice is multiplied as we work on the important issue of religious liberty. As a chapter member you will receive notices of sponsored events, a subscription to Church & State magazine, access to a national and grassroots network of church-state activists, and the ability to have your voice heard in the ongoing struggle for freedom. |
| Files briefs before the U. S. Supreme Court and lower courts in order to vigorously defend religious liberty. Our legal department maintains a vigilant watch over developing cases and works to make sure that yourreligious freedom is not infringed upon. | |
| Works with state and local education officials and community leaders around the country to defend religious liberty where it's needed most — in the local community. | |
| Sponsors an annual Americans United National Conference to bring together people from all walks of life and from around the country to address vital issues, share information, and provide training and rejuvenation. In addition, a special Madison/Jefferson Student Seminar for law and theology students is held to increase student understanding and awareness of church-state issues. | |
| Testifies before the U. S. Congress, state legislatures and other governmental bodies and agencies. The organization also trains its chapter organizers to monitor and provide testimony before legislative bodies and agencies in their own communities. | |
| Promotes church-state separation in the news media, providing expert commentary on breaking religious liberty developments. |
